Did anyone consider the oddity of the Prince of England, William, visiting Sydney's "The Block" in Redfern yesterday (19th Jan.)?
What I did find truly extraordinary yesterday, was the unconditional warmth shown by the residents towards William.
The aboriginal people embraced him as the celebrity that he is.
But he also represents the British Royal Family ...... The Crown!
Wasn't it the British who attempted to wipe out the original indigenous inhabitants of Australia?
The warmth towards the Prince by the local aboriginal people no doubt will be used by the Monarchists as proof that he is the one to unite Australia under the Union Jack and we should never become a Republic.
He is a celebrity, nothing more than that. And we all love celebrities don't we? Not.
It must have been a slow-news-day!
