
Economic rationalists have hijacked water policy, at our peril
Surely the wake-up call is in for Australia's somnolent politicians and voters? South Australian towns near the Murray River mouth are going to have to rely on bottled water because of acidification of the river. Experts have warned that unless the drought breaks in the Murray-Darling Basin, Adelaide - which gets its water from further up the Murray - will be forced to rely on bottled water next year.
