One third of trees die due to lack of water

Dying elm trees along Greenhill Road near Adelaide's south parklands are finally getting some water.

Unley Council says it has used state government funding to get 12,000 litres of recycled water from Mawson Lakes in the northern suburbs.

Unley mayor Richard Thorne says the need was urgent, as about one third of the 158 trees had died because of watering restrictions.

It does begger the question why smiling Mike plants trees but does not allow us mortals to water them so that they survive!
