Click on the image to enlarge:-I was shocked when I drove down Port Road past the West Parklands/Bonython Park to find that the eucalypt forest that had been planted around 10 years ago, plus a number of Plane trees are all gone. Felled in the name of Mike Rann's dream. Talk about him planting a tree which probably died last summer anyway due to his water restrictions.
Dozens were cut down in King William St. and North Terrace, and now Port road is the latest victim of this folly into the past.
This is a disgrace and nothing short of vandalism by our government in the name of a tram extension to the Entertainment Centre.
South Australia surely needs every tree it can keep, thousands have died in the drought, and now hundreds more have been wilfully felled.
What is the total number of trees in the city andPort Road that have been felled for this tram project? I doubt anyone will be given the answer.
Vandalism nothing short of vandalism. Hurry up March 20, 2010.
